Hot on the heels of Rangers making an enquiry regarding Maswanhise, the Elijah Just story continues.
14 goals and assists in 34 has caught Rangers’ attention, and it appears the punching considerably above their weight Steelmen may get asset-stripped this summer.
A key number of their personnel have shone this campaign including Kiwi international Just, and with Rangers’ forwards just not delivering this season, the likes of Just may just find himself coming to Govan.
Kiwi
His record for New Zealand is decent, 11 goals and assists in 40. Not spectacular, but decent.
It would be intriguing for Rangers to secure two Motherwell attackers this summer, but the club is starting to learn the need to get players who know this league already.
And Just fits that bill. He’s had a strong season for sure.
For what it’s worth, here’s some AI slop as a scouting report:
“Elijah Just thrives in attacking situations for Motherwell, combining a keen eye for goal with a knack for creating opportunities. With six goals and as many assists this season, he’s a constant threat, demonstrating above-average goal efficiency and an impressive ability to generate chances. His knack for progressive carrying allows him to drive the ball forward, making him a key asset in breaking down opposition defences. Averaging 1.7 key passes per 90 minutes, he consistently finds teammates in dangerous positions, illustrating his playmaking pedigree. However, while Just excels in attack, he occasionally lacks the dynamism needed to impact defensive phases, which can leave gaps when his team is caught on the counter. Despite this, his attacking prowess and ability to retain possession under pressure make him a valuable player in any forward line. Overall, his style of play adds a vibrant spark to Motherwell’s attack, positioning him as a crucial player to watch this season.”
We think that’s from his FIFA profile…
Scouting
We can’t say we’ve watched a lot of him, so we’re not going to offer our own scouting on him, but his numbers are decent.
Value? Who knows what Motherwell would want for a 25-year-old, but his deal is nearing an end. Transfermarket put him at £1.5M.
And of course, Celtic are interested too, so the price theoretically rises. But Motherwell’s hand isn’t very strong because he only has a year left on his deal. But he has an option for a further year, but that might not get activated depending on potential interest.
Rangers could get him for £1M-£2M give or take, but then the players would have to choose between both Old Firm sides.
And it’s said that some sides down south are interested as well.
So it’s an interesting one.
Maswanhise on one side, Just on the other?
Is that the route Rangers want? The Elijah Just story continues.
Has to be better than the ineffectual wings we currently have.
