There’s obviously a lot of talk now about the future of Mikey Moore, on loan from Tottenham.

The 18-year-old winger, who’s had a strong 2026, has enjoyed better Rangers form this calendar year after a very slow start last year, and now attention turns to the summer.

Moore himself has spoken out about his future, and to paraphrase his comments:

‘We’ll see what happens this summer when talks take place, but Spurs are an absolute mess and I think I’d rather be here if that remains the case.’

Loan

Moore has loved his time north, he’s played plenty, and while his performances were slow to get going, he’s finally started to settle and looked much more the part.

But like any talented young English player, he wants to be in the Premier League. That is the place to be, especially for a London boy as he is. And if that can be the case, it’ll happen. But unfortunately for him his parent club are in such a shambles that he’s unlikely to want to be there. Mikey Moore Rangers future is uncertain.

Now, there are two angles – if they’re a mess, then surely he has a better chance of playing than if they were in a strong position. But equally, there’s no glory in a Spurs team in with a strong chance of going down at this point.

Mikey Moore does not want to play in the Championship.

His exact quotes:

“I’ve loved every single second I’ve been here and I think the club is special and it’s special to me now. For me, I’m just going to enjoy the next seven games and obviously I need to speak to people back home. I don’t know what could happen, I have no clue. We’ll have conversations in the summer and we’ll see what happens. People have spoken to me and the people around me, so conversations are happening. We’ll see what happens come the end of the season.”

“I just want to enjoy the last seven games and obviously I’ve absolutely loved it up here, so we’ll see what happens. Yes, we’re going to see. Obviously, I don’t know what’s happening with the manager and what’s happening at the club at the minute. We’ll see how the season ends, who comes in and I’m going to speak to people and just try and find the best solution for me. I think this has been unbelievable for me. If it’s right for me next year, then I’d love to stay here. But we have to see what’s going to happen.”

He’s being wise with his words, not committing to anything and leaving his options open. While also praising hugely Rangers and his time here.

The problem remains economics. Another loan north at Ibrox is potential, but it depends on Spurs’ position come the summer. The cost should it be a permanent deal would be anywhere from £15M-£25M.

Moore’s ace

But Moore is in a position where he holds all the cards here.

He can go home to PL Spurs in the summer hoping to break into their first team under likely a new manager, or he can accept them in the Championship.

But he completely digs Rangers, and ultimately Mikey Moore Rangers future will dictate what club he ends up being at next season.
