Danny Rohl fields questions after Rangers draw.

Danny Rohl’s reaction to yesterday’s crucially dropped points at Fir Park summed up the manager that Rangers now have. His comments more or less gaslit the occasion. He dismissed the importance of dropping the two points and instead looked ahead to Hearts. We cannot say that we are hugely surprised at Ibrox Noise. We did not see that much of an upgrade over Russell Martin in the first place.

Results Versus Conduct

That is to say, of course, he went on to win many more domestic matches than Rangers’ former manager. He took us from 11th to 2nd at one point. However, Rohl’s general conduct in post match commentary when things go wrong is not that different in vibe to Martin.

This is not to say that Rohl is as bad as Martin was. That was an aberration. But Ibrox Noise had been at pains to explain why Rohl was doing no better than Clement or Beale.

This got ignored by all and sundry. However, the result at Fir Park may shed light on what we were trying to get at.

Not the Reaction of a Rangers Manager

Rohl’s comments after Fir Park were not those of a Rangers manager. Crucially, he did not seem to be hurting. Rohl dismissed this one. He said it did not go great, but there are many more matches and we still have Hearts to go.

Rather than showing anger and especially taking responsibility, Rohl palmed the whole thing off. This is not what we expect of a Rangers manager.

Many Rangers managers would throw players under the bus. Certain previous ones certainly did. However, they would still be angry. They would still be upset.

Even Russell Martin was upset at bad results. Even if he gaslit the fans and blamed the players, he showed emotion.

A Philosophical Shrug

Rohl did not seem too down at all. He was more philosophical about this one. He expressed a ‘you cannot win them all’ type of vibe.

This is not what we expected. We expected anger, rage and responsibility from Rangers’ supposed anchor. But he did not seem that bothered.

That was a big problem and a large red flag for Ibrox Noise.

Fans may say he is hurting inside. They may say that is just not his way to be emotional outside. That will not cut it.

We have to know what someone is feeling. We are not mind readers.

No Responsibility Taken

Football is a passionate sport filled with emotion and raw tension. Danny Rohl showed none of that last night. All he did, as we have said, was look ahead to Hearts. He added that other teams will drop points as well.

Talk about gaslighting.

The simple fact is that Rohl completely screwed up. He made an absolute blunder of his selection. He managed the match all wrong.

No one really knows why. It was completely avoidable. He has taken no responsibility whatsoever.

Not a great night for the Rangers manager.
