Rohl chokes again as title goes out of Rangers’ hands

From the moment that Rangers’ team sheet was revealed on Wednesday night, it was abundantly clear that Danny Rohl had picked the wrong eleven. It was absolutely blatant to the majority of fans that this was the wrong selection. He picked a bizarre choice of players who were clearly not going to deliver on the evening. Ibrox Noise warned just how strong Motherwell were. In all fairness, early on, with that quick goal from Raskin, it looked like the tables had been turned. It seemed Rohl was going to be vindicated. But no, Rohl picked wrong team.

Momentum Lost After Early Promise

Alas, following that early goal, Rangers more or less stopped playing. Or at least, Motherwell started. Consequently, the home side clearly deserved to take all three points. Rangers were lucky to get the point they did.

Fans, of course, are carrying out much soul-searching after this result. It felt like a loss to most supporters. As a result, Rangers lost the momentum they had allegedly built.

We say allegedly because that momentum mainly came against weaker teams. The last half-decent SPL side Rohl faced was Hibs. He choked there as well.

A Pattern Against Decent Opposition

This was our big concern with Rohl. He cannot win domestic matches against decent sides with settled managers. As yet, he has not managed to do that.

That line-up against Motherwell astonished even Ibrox Noise. We could not believe Meghoma started at left-back instead of Rommens. Then we were stunned that Chermiti led the line over the all-to-prove Naderi.

We also could not understand why Skov Olsen sat on the bench.

Ultimately, it was a bizarre team. It was a very strange selection. It was compounded by even weirder substitutions.

Substitutions That Made No Sense

Fundamentally no one could grasp why a centre-back replaced a forward. Rangers desperately needed to win. After that, that change made no sense.

This was, quite frankly, an absolute bum note from Danny Rohl. Moreover he proved his rookie nature. He proved his choking nature when it truly counts.

In Europe, he was an absolute farce. He was completely out of his depth.

The bewildering part was how obvious this mistake was. Everyone could see it coming. There was no fathomable reason to pick that eleven.

No one can understand that selection.

No Logic, No Clear Plan

For a match we had to win, Rohl picked a team with no logic. Basically the plan was not obvious. From the first minute, it felt unwinnable.

The Hibs draw saw Ibrox Noise finished with Rohl. After that we barely credited him for beating Annan and we barely credited him for beating Kilmarnock with ten men. We barely credited him for beating Queen’s Park.

Why would we? Those are diddy sides Rangers should be beating.

He showed his real actual nature against Motherwell. He’d already shown it against Hibs.

A Manager Who Cannot Deliver Titles

We are not saying Rohl out because we cannot even be bothered calling for his sacking. We are simply saying he is a choker.

Fundamentally Rangers will not win the league under a manager like this. Because Rohl picked wrong team.

But then again, that has been the case for a very long time. Has it not?
