While it’s safe to say that while Ibrox Noise gave up on Danny Rohl and 56 after the Hibs debacle, the Motherwell follow up really brought it home. Danny Rohl v Hearts is kind of no different.
After the delusion of so many fans thinking Rangers were world beaters because we put a tonne of goals past Annan, 10-man Killie and Queens Park, it was back to earth with a bang as a hardy Motherwell took a point at Fir Park. They deserved more.
And as things now stand, Rangers are in a rather precarious position.
Results
Lose to Hearts at Ibrox and it’s 100% league over. It already is, in truth, but that would cement it.
Draw with Hearts, however, and it’s slightly advantage Celtic. Beat Hearts and it helps that lot even more.
See Celtic have a game in hand. Martin O’Neill has dropped just two points in the league this season, and the chances are that he’ll pick the full complement up when that game in hand is played. That puts Celtic two past ourselves.
Which means that it really is a no-win situation for the Famous.
Rohl has proven repeatedly that he chokes on the big occasions. They are too much for him to handle.
Advocates
And that’s taken things out of our hands completely. His advocates say ‘we still have Hearts and Celtic to play twice each’.
Yes, and we have 4 points in total (a smash and grab at Parkhead v Nancy and a point v deflated Brenda) to show for all the 4 matches we’ve had against these two sides.
After drawing with Motherwell we will suddenly now beat Hearts and Celtic twice?
Predicament
So now we’ve really made it difficult for ourselves.
His advocates scream ‘look where he’s taken us from’ as if being second is something to be applauded.
One made the claim that Rohl is ‘outstanding’. We’ve never had an ‘outstanding’ Rangers manager be second in the league until maybe later on in their reign when wheels had come off. Unless outstanding means something new now? At what point does the ‘look where we were’ nonsense stop and we actually have ambition again?

All the Rohl fans are doing is praising that we’re not 11th any more. Big ambition there!
Division 3
It’s like the fans who used to praise being third and fourth in the league under Warburton and Pedro by yelling ‘look where we’ve come from’ in relation to Division 3.
That wasn’t wrong initially, but it got tiresome to hear such a lack of ambition.
It’s like the former homeless person who is no longer in the gutter, but is now in a crummy bedsit with fleas on the wall. How long before he actually wants to be in a decent house and having a good job.
‘It’s not as bad as it was’. This attitude is so meek and unambitious. And very very unRangersy.
As things are, we have no faith in Danny Rohl v Hearts, and while we like a few of the players for sure, it barely matters any more.
As long as the boss keeps choking the big-time matches, and beating Annan to praise from all, this right now is where we’ll stay.
