Basically the next 48 hours truly are an absolute day or two of reckoning for Rangers.
A Critical Edinburgh Derby
Obviously, Tuesday night sees the Edinburgh Derby between Hearts and Hibs. This match is critical to Derek McInnes’ side and staying top. Unfortunately for them, the last meeting at Easter Road saw a home victory. That was the first time Hearts had been knocked off their perch. It has shown vulnerability at Tynecastle ever since. They do, however, remain at the summit.
Title Rivals Under Pressure
Rangers are in form alongside Celtic. Both teams, and Hearts, have dropped points recently. Despite Danny Rohl winning Manager of the Month for January, the draw at Hibs this month was damaging. Consequently, a huge reckoning is coming with these three fixtures.
Rangers face the tough test of Motherwell at Fir Park. As mentioned, the Edinburgh Derby is hugely significant tonight. Lastly, Celtic appear certain to win at Livingston.
A Massive 48 Hours
Consequently it is a massive title week. It all happens over the next 48 hours. The Edinburgh Derby is tonight. The Old Firm clubs play on Wednesday.
Motherwell at Fir Park will be a tough prospect. It is a huge nut to crack.
The Motherwell Threat
Motherwell have the league’s most in form and top scoring striker Tawanda Maswanhise. He is available at their disposal. Certainly Rangers should have tried to sign him but did not. Nevertheless, he remains and will be a huge thorn in Rangers’ side on Wednesday.
He will cause major problems for Rangers at Fir Park.
Rohl’s First True Test
Helpfully Danny Rohl’s new signings are starting to click. This is even if it is against modest teams. Moreover Motherwell is the match Rangers really need to win.
This is the first true league test for Rohl. He faces a side in good form and condition. They also have a settled manager. This is a huge one to win.
Assumptions and Reality
Furthermore Celtic are almost certain to take all three points. Besides, we cannot see another outcome. Hearts and Hibs should favour the home side. We assume Hearts will take the points.
Fundamentally it may be a blood and thunder match. We believe Hearts will come out on top. Not as a prediction. More as an assumption.
Correspondingly Ibrox Noise always assumes rivals will win. We believe this consistently. We cannot rely on others dropping points to help us.
No Margin for Error
As far as we are concerned, Rangers must win. The other two sides probably will. Although this may be true Motherwell will not be easy. They are tough and rigid and they play decent football. They have an in form star.
Motherwell will test Danny Rohl heavily.
Defining Moment
This match defines his credentials as a potential champion. It truly does.
It is a day of reckoning for Hearts, Rangers and Celtic. Let us hope Rangers are top of the perch at the end of it.
