Rangers move for Denmark international Andreas Skov Olsen is without any doubt the best news we have heard in a long time. Rangers fans will remember that Rangers took significant interest in the former Bologna star some seasons ago during Gio’s era at Ibrox but unfortunately the transfer did not materialise. Rangers were linked and strongly connected with a move for him for a considerable period of time only for Belgian giants Club Bruges to take him instead and he most certainly shone there.

Skov Olsen history

The Denmark international is a great borderline world class winger whose move to Wolfsburg has not worked out and the German side’s loss is very much likely to be Rangers’ gain. The ever reliable Transfermarkt reports a stunning 79% probability of this transfer happening and it is one that Ibrox Noise has wanted for a long long time. We have rated this boy for many many years.

From Bologna to Bruges

We could see what he could do in Bologna. He was impressive as well in his homeland with Nordsjaelland. Consequently his performances for Bologna and Bruges were exactly the nature that we expected for a player of his quality. It has not worked out as well at Wolfsburg just like it didn’t for Vaclav Cerny.

Better than the alternatives

This is a guy that we wanted far more than we did the Czech international. As good as he was, Skov Olsen is far better. A Danish international he is extremely well rated in the world of football. While we are not claiming he is Ronaldo or Messi he is very much above what we would ever have expected in this January window.

The winger Rangers need

This is the calibre of player that we want at Rangers. This is the old school that we want at Rangers. We would be absolutely thrilled to get the lad. If there is one thing clear it is that none of Rangers’ wingers have shone at all.

Unfortunately Oliver Antman just has not worked out. Djeidi Gassama has been absolutely terrible. Mikey Moore has not really convinced and is only on loan in the first place. Rabbi Matondo of course has been a complete fail and an expensive one at that.

A major boost

Consequently at least getting a solid right winger one that is of high quality would be a major fillip for Rangers. That is exactly what Skov Olsen is. This is one that we really want to see happen. Let us hope it does.
