This is who we DON’T want as new Rangers manager

So obviously the big question everyone asks now is who do we want as the new Rangers manager. Ibrox Noise has been on record before saying we were very much in favour of Brian Priske, but unfortunately he is now at Sparta Prague doing very well there, and we’ve missed the boat on that one. That was our main choice, not that we ever claimed a monopoly on truth. Another big one we had was Derek McInnes because he knows Rangers, he knows the SPL, and he is destined at some point to become Rangers manager. Unfortunately Hearts got in there first and are sailing away at the top of the table. So that’s another lost one for us.

Options

So who realistically are the options now. The one thing Ibrox Noise will categorically say is that we cannot pick absolute guarantees. We cannot know who will definitely work, but as with Russell Martin, we know who won’t. Russell Martin we objected to from the start, never backed down, and were proven completely correct.

Nowadays we will again say who we do not want for now. We do not want Barry Ferguson. He is a terrible manager with diabolical judgement. After years of slaughtering Captain James Tavernier as not good enough and saying he shouldn’t be captain, as Rangers interim coach he completely changed his tune and decided the man was the best choice for the armband. Barry Ferguson is a good Rangers man and wants the best for our club, but his judgement is dreadful. Aside from Russell Martin, Barry Ferguson is the worst Rangers manager there has ever been. His win rate was 40%. That’s not good enough.

Duncan Ferguson

The other suggestion we are hearing and saying absolutely no to is his namesake Duncan. Another terrible manager. Many Rangers fans seem to have this romantic notion of him going into the dressing room and sorting things out. Not a chance. He himself has even said that he is not the hard man the media make him out to be. He’s just an ordinary bloke with a bit of strength, but he can’t manage. He never has. He’s not a good manager and would not cope at Rangers for one second. Other no’s include Rafa Benitez, a horrible individual and a diabolical man manager, more concerned with his spreadsheets and checklists than his players. He’s been dire since leaving Liverpool. Just because he won the Champions League with them does not mean we want him.

Jose

Jose Mourinho himself was another previous favourite for some. He hadn’t won a league since 2013. Rangers have won more titles than him. We’re glad he’s gone to Benfica, that’s one out of the question. Another one many mention is Danny Röhl. No thank you. He has experience in the English Championship, but haven’t we learned our lesson from Championship managers who collapse at Rangers. The demands down south are nowhere near ours. Röhl is an outright no.

Potter

The last one we’ll mention is Graham Potter. He was outstanding in Scandinavia, no question. He was then excellent for Brighton and built the machine they are now. But since then he’s been an absolute shambles. He went to Chelsea and collapsed completely. Then was even worse at West Ham. He cannot cope with pressure. He built Brighton when there were no expectations, similar to Kjetil Knutsen at Bodo/Glimt, who did the same. But we need someone who can cope with having to win the title yesterday. Very few of the names we’ve mentioned can handle that. Knutsen might, but even he comes with doubts. Regardless it’s a 100% no to Graham Potter.

So as you can see, it’s simple to know who isn’t calibre. But figuring out who the heck is, is a completely different ball game.
