With the news on Monday that ex-Sheffield Wednesday coach Danny Rohl is set to take over at Rangers, it’s safe to say Rangers’ board now has the yes man they wanted.

Steven Gerrard said no because he’s not a yes man, and Kevin Muscat did the same.

Rejections

Sean Dyche wasn’t even interested because he knew how Kevin Thelwell operates, and Bo Svensson also dropped out for the same reason.

Which left Thelwell and Stewart seeking someone who is.

And that’s Rohl.

It’s safe to say Ibrox Noise’s hopes for a coach barely any older than James Tavernier aren’t terribly high, his predecessor is from the same school. EFL lower league slop.

Martin

Not only that, but Rohl even looks the same as Martin, which doesn’t provide the most positive omens.

He’s one that was on Ibrox Noise’s ‘no’ list, and here we are, weeks later, and he’s about to be appointed.

We’re already seeing lots of ‘back the manager’ from the usual types. Same ones who said similar about Martin – we’re just going to ignore that blind sentiment.

Those fans would back Myra Hindley if she was appointed Rangers boss, and she’s not even alive any more.

Rohl

So yes, our hopes for Sausage Rohl are not terribly high, much like they weren’t for Russell Martin.

This is the calibre of manager our hierarchy seem to want now, and Rangers will suffer for it.

Can 36-year-old Danny Rohl turn Rangers into a machine again?

Probably not, but he’ll behave himself which is what Thelwell and Stewart want.

This is the Rangers we have now.
