Rangers transfer business could take another twist this summer as Hamza Igamane to Lille remains an active situation, despite new developments emerging from France. Ligue 1 side Lille have reportedly submitted a £3 million offer for Udinese striker Vivaldo Semedo, casting doubt over whether their pursuit of Igamane is still a priority. However reports from France insist the two deals are not linked and Lille continue to show strong interest in the Moroccan forward. For Rangers, this could still result in a major sale that would influence how Russell Martin handles the rest of his summer window.

Hamza Igamane to Lille continues to dominate discussion around Ibrox as French outlet L’Equipe states the two transfer pursuits are separate. Semedo may be arriving as a squad option, a long-term project or even a complementary signing, but it does not rule out the club returning for Igamane. Rangers are believed to be holding out for a substantial fee after signing the Moroccan last year, and with Lille flush from recent player sales, they may well still have the funds to make it happen. This gives Rangers leverage and could see a decent profit made on the deal.

While the Semedo fee is reported at just £3 million, Rangers are understood to value Igamane at significantly more. Estimates suggest a fee of around £6 million would be enough to open talks, though some believe it could stretch further if Lille push hard. For a club like Rangers operating within the tight confines of the Scottish Premiership budget, this is a potentially crucial outgoing that could affect overall squad planning. The ongoing attention on Hamza Igamane to Lille reflects just how valuable his sale could be to the club’s summer balance sheet.

Not every fan at Ibrox will be concerned if Igamane leaves, with opinions on the Moroccan still mixed. But there is no doubt his exit would be another example of Rangers buying low and selling higher — a core strategy that has underpinned recent transfer windows. Whether Lille complete the deal or not, Rangers’ decision making on this front will be critical in the weeks ahead.
