Rangers’ pursuit of Dor Turgeman has hit a major stumbling block after the club’s opening £4 million offer was firmly rejected. Rangers transfer hopes for Dor Turgeman reflects a saga that now appears to be fading fast, as Maccabi Tel Aviv made it clear that the offer does not come close to their valuation of the player. With Zarko Lazetic standing his ground, Rangers find themselves priced out of the race for one of Israel’s most exciting young forwards.

The 21-year-old striker had been identified as a serious target for Russell Martin, who is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Turgeman, who impressed for both Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israeli national team, fits the profile of the youthful talent Rangers are looking to inject into the squad. However, despite clear intent, the club’s financial approach has fallen well short of expectations from the Israeli champions.

Lazetic described Turgeman as a “beast on the pitch” and made it known that only a special offer would be considered. The rejected bid from Ibrox has shown that Rangers transfer hopes for Dor Turgeman may not be realistic without a significant increase in funds. Sources close to the Israeli side insist the proposal was not only insufficient but borderline dismissive given the player’s market value and potential.

The timing of the interest raised eyebrows, particularly with the shared ownership between Rangers and Leeds United through 49ers Enterprises. Turgeman was heavily linked with Leeds last December before that move failed to materialise. Now, with Rangers stepping into the frame, the American-led structure appears to be pooling scouting intelligence across its portfolio of clubs. That said, it does not look like collaboration will make this deal happen unless a far more competitive figure is placed on the table.

Rangers transfer hopes for Dor Turgeman now rest on whether the club are willing to revisit negotiations with a more serious bid. Lazetic’s comments suggest there is no pressure to sell and certainly not at a discount. With the player able to operate both centrally and wide left, Rangers clearly see his versatility as a major asset. But unless the financial side of the deal changes dramatically, Turgeman will not be wearing blue any time soon.

This is not the first time Rangers have struggled to land a key target due to valuation gaps, and it may not be the last.
