Russell Martin appears set to make early moves in the transfer market as the new Rangers boss, with Conor Coady, Harry Darling, and Flynn Downes all emerging as leading candidates to join him at Ibrox, according to the latest odds from Casino Beats.

England international Coady is now 8/11 to make the switch to Glasgow, while Premier League pair Leeds (3/1) and Wolves (9/2) are the next likeliest suitors for the recently-relegated Leicester City centre-back.

Downes, who impressed on loan at Southampton under Martin last season, is also odds-on at 4/6 to reunite with his former manager at Ibrox. Everton (4/1) and Leeds (7/1) are trailing in the market for the West Ham midfielder.

Swansea centre-back Darling – another player previously coached by Martin – has seen his price drop to 4/7 for a move to Rangers, with Wrexham (4/1) and Birmingham (5/1) the closest contenders.

Chavdar Vasilev, spokesperson for Casino Beats, said:

“Russell Martin is wasting no time in shaping the Rangers squad, and the markets are pointing towards three key additions in Conor Coady, Flynn Downes and Harry Darling.

“It’s been rumoured Martin is a long time admirer of Coady, and given their relegation from the Premier League, the Leicester City defender is 8/11 to join Martin in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox. Leeds (3/1) and former club Wolves (9/2) are next in the market to make a swoop for the England international.

“Downes, who excelled on loan at Southampton last season under Martin’s management, is now 4/6 to reunite with his former boss at Ibrox, with Everton (4/1) and Leeds (7/1) also reportedly monitoring his situation.

“Darling, another player with strong ties to Martin from their time together at Swansea, is 4/7 to follow suit. Wrexham (4/1) and Birmingham (5/1) are also seen as potential destinations, but Rangers are the clear favourites.”
