In a move that has sparked widespread relief among the Rangers faithful, Davide Ancelotti has officially turned down the opportunity to become the next manager at Ibrox. Instead, he has chosen to continue working alongside his father, Carlo Ancelotti, as part of Brazil’s national team coaching staff .

The 35-year-old assistant coach at Real Madrid had been linked with the managerial vacancy at Rangers following the departure of Philippe Clement. However, concerns over his lack of first-team managerial experience and the perception of him being a “project” manager led to skepticism among fans. Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson echoed these sentiments, stating that “Rangers aren’t a project club” and emphasizing the need for a seasoned manager ready to deliver immediate results .

Fan reactions mirrored this cautious stance. A poll conducted by Ibrox Noise revealed that a significant portion of supporters were hesitant about Ancelotti’s potential appointment, citing his limited experience and the high-pressure environment at Ibrox .

Adding to the complexity, reports indicated that 49ers Enterprises, the American investment group involved with Rangers, would not be making the final decision on the new managerial appointment. This responsibility remains with the current Ibrox board, who are now tasked with identifying a candidate capable of meeting the club’s high expectations .

With Ancelotti out of the running, attention turns to other potential candidates. Names like Marco Rose have been mentioned, bringing a blend of experience and tactical acumen that aligns with the club’s immediate ambitions. As the search continues, fans remain hopeful that the next appointment will steer Rangers towards success in the upcoming season.
