Today, Rangers fans learned the truth—and it’s shameful.

Leon Balogun, the quiet leader, the consummate professional, has confirmed his departure from Rangers for the second and final time. But it’s how it’s happened that should have every fan absolutely raging.

In a heartfelt and emotional social media post, the 36-year-old defender revealed he was not told he was leaving. He played his final game without knowing it was the last time he’d wear that shirt. No handshake. No goodbye. No farewell from the club. And no Ibrox send-off.

“If I would have known that the last two games of the season were my last for the club, I would have made sure to say goodbye to all of you accordingly. Unfortunately, I wasn’t afforded that opportunity, which saddens me.”

That’s not just regret. That’s a player slamming the club’s lack of respect and basic communication. A player who gave everything, twice, and helped deliver 55, thrown out the back door while others with half his dignity remain on the payroll.

It’s frankly a disgrace.

Balogun didn’t ask for fanfare. He didn’t need a parade. But what he absolutely earned was the chance to step off that pitch one last time, look around Ibrox, and hear the applause of fans who loved him. Instead, he’s left to break the news himself, with no official statement from the club and no hint that this decision was even made until he went public.

This isn’t just bad PR. This is disrespect to a player who deserved better.

Balogun has never once let the club down. He stepped up when needed, led with maturity, and never moaned when overlooked. He outperformed plenty of others and did it all without ego.

To deny him a send-off is to forget who you are. Rangers is built on loyalty, respect, and tradition. Today, all three were missing.

Fans will remember, Leon. We see you. We thank you. And you got the Ibrox goodbye you earned—not from the boardroom, but from the people that matter.
