While there are major rumours about former manager Steven Gerrard returning to Rangers there has also been some major speculation regarding Rafa Benitez.

Can we say in a very short article that we would be deeply against the Spaniard coming anywhere near Rangers.

He is a truly terrible man manager, a pretty terrible person, and really only had one success in his life and that was Valencia.

Ironically, it was Gerrard himself who bailed Benitez out in Istanbul hence winning the Champions League. Otherwise he really wasn’t that great at Liverpool.

Since then, he has been an absolute disaster in management and certainly not the stuff that would ever help Rangers in any context.

We wouldn’t go as far as to say we would stop supporting Rangers if the Spaniard was made manager, but our enthusiasm would be massively reduced because he’s the last person who should be up the Marble staircase in Ibrox.

Gerrard? Maybe, he is a box office name. We’re not sure about that one.

But Rafa is an absolute no and indeed a recent poll of Ibrox Noise readers agree thoroughly, voting against the Spaniard by about 95%.

As things stand, it’s Barry Ferguson who is the interim coach and we will just see how he does as time goes on.
