Rangers face a big battle on deadline day to secure Dundee’s Lyall Cameron and Motherwell’s Lennon Miller with Celtic also seeking the midfielders’ services.

Celtic have already had a bid rejected for Miller while Motherwell also said no to Italy with an offer of £2.5 million.

Meanwhile Dundee man Cameron is also very much heavily on Rangers’ radar as we move into the final hours of the window.

These are two players rangers would love to get but there’s no question that Miller is almost certainly out with Rangers budget while it is also understood that Celtic are simply trying to do a ‘Scott Allan’ with Cameron.

Manager Philippe Clement has already said that he does want more in this window and that just Fernandes is not enough alone.

Rangers signing just one player up to this point is exactly what CEO Patrick Stewart warned about even though briefly we suspected and hoped that might have been selling a dummy.

If we can get either Cameron or Miller or staggeringly both that would certainly be a reasonably satisfying ending even if defence wasn’t enhanced enough.
