With Rangers finally having made a new signing there are 13 days left of the window for more to come in but of course there are also surplus players to leave.

And the big breaking story over the last 24 hours is that of the likelihood that Welsh star Tom Lawrence is wanted not by Giovanni at Besiktas but by the Dutchman’s successor Ole.

The curious catch here is that the Norwegian is set to want Lawrence for free.

In fairness, the former Derby midfielder’s contract expires this summer and he has next to no market value due to the injured history he has sustained.

He is of course currently injured again, but Ole knows him from the Manchester United youth system and of course Lawrence’s time there and he considers the playmaker would be a great addition in Turkey.

Is he one to just let go for free?

Yes, it’s a simple answer. He’s on wages at around £22,000 a week and in honesty Rangers have had a little return for that in the last 2 1/2 years since we signed him.

With six months left, he is not going to be extended and will leave for free in the summer so we may as well let him go now and give the Turks what they want.

It makes good business sense to rangers to get him off the wage list and Ibrox Noise have often preached how little Lawrence actually dictates games.

While we do not particularly like Hagi here on the Noise, we will definitely admit he dictates matches much more.

Lawrence basically has the odd nice touch and scores a goal here and there and that is about it.

So if there is scope to get him off the wage list, we should absolutely go for it.
