It is abundantly clear to anybody watching on that Rangers have lost their identity. Going back to the Steven Gerrard days the first thing he did was to sign Rangers men.

Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield and later Steven Davis not to mention high-quality players like Ryan Kent and further Rangers player men like Kyle Lafferty helped to give the club not only high-quality but Rangers identity.

Plus the one good move made by Pedro in bringing Ryan Jack from Aberdeen added to Gerard’s squad a real core of Rangers quality.

Look at the squad today by comparison – not a single proper Rangers man in the entire squad unless you count Liam Kelly.

Is it the only problem at the club? Of course not. But of all the title winning Rangers teams of the past they all had a strong Rangers core in the playing squad.

Even 55 which of course had Davis McGregor Jack and others.

Now we would be hard pressed to name a single proper rangers fan in the entire squad outwith the current goalkeeper.

The fact that Fraser Thornton non-executive chairman is in fact about the only Rangers man among the board and squad says a lot for the complete dilution of Ibrox values recently.

It’s hard to win if your players don’t care.
