Philippe Clements position at Ibrox took an interesting turn today as Belgian boss Domenico Tedesco was finally fired from his job with the national team opening up the potential for Rangers boss to take over the national regime.

While some press reports have claimed that the Belgian FA has no money to fund Clements compensation from Ibrox we have seen no evidence on Ibrox noise that that is true.

Clement will be one of the favourites for the job and we already know that Thierry Henry has been installed as the bookmakers outright favourite.

The former Arsenal striker was assistant with the Belgians for a considerable period and has had other management gigs as well.

The question with Clement is whether the Belgian FA can afford him and if he wants the job.

He has spoken many times about his commitment to Rangers, but then he has said many things which did not turn out to be true.

Would he be tempted by an offer from his homeland?

There are a few players or managers who would not want to represent their country as an ultimate ambition and we doubt Clement is any different.

The question is whether he feels that now would be the right time in his managerial career to take up that job.

But when it comes to heart and a call from your nation, it is very hard to say no.

We will see what transpires of this.
