Rangers manager Philippe Clement has effectively confirmed the exit of Rabbi Matondo after announcing his omission from the Aberdeen squad was down to ‘sporting reasons’.

He like fellow exiting Rangers man  Kieran Dowell was left out of the midweek squad to face the Dons with Clement describing it as sporting reasons as said.

As Ibrox Noise told you a few days ago, Dowell is to leave this January with English sites interested but his Welsh colleague is also said to be in negotiations with an unnamed European side or two for his own departure.

It is the first time that Clement has used terminology like sporting reasons with the press and it does hint at an exit for both players.

There is no question that neither of these signings worked out remotely with Dowell an especially pointless edition while Matondo was hoping to be the solution to the long standing right wing problem.

Sadly, that did not work out, although Rangers have solved that problem temporarily through Cerny.

But as it is, there is very little reason that either Dowell or Matondo will remain at Rangers and their exits should surely be imminent.
