Rangers are reported to be making a surprise move for 23-year-old Keelan Adams of Falkirk as a replacement for potentially-outgoing captain James Tavernier.

The interest in Adams is something of a left-field move for the defender given he has no Scotland caps at any level, and has never played at a higher level than the Scottish Championship, despite no longer being a ‘youngster’.

Many Rangers fans have reacted positively to the links with the former Rangers trialist, but Ibrox Noise does not share this optimism.

At the age of 23, even recently-turned as he did last month, £100,000-rated Adams’ career has been about as mediocre a journeyman as it gets, and with Rangers rejecting him years ago along with Hibs, it’s a long shot to suggest he’s one who got away.

Indeed, not long ago he was in the Lowland League with Cumbernauld Colts.

It’s a very strange link in truth, Rangers need quality additions and if this lad was 18 and showing his potential for a big move like Motherwell’s Miller, maybe.

But he’s 23 and in the Championship with a very middling career thus far.

We’re just not sold on this one, sorry.
