As many Rangers fans will know, the club doesn’t exactly lack ammunition to want to beat Celtic on Sunday, but Brendan Rodgers’ brass neck cheek of claiming his club hasn’t been handed any money and has earned their way to their current financial state really is pin up on the Hampden dressing room door material.

To have the sheer gall, and no sense of humility to suggest that Celtic have ‘earned’ their current financial state purely through hard work and tears really is the most staggering revision of history we’ve seen in Scottish football for some time.

Not only, not only did Celtic ensure Rangers’ expulsion to Division 3 in 2012 and guarantee they secured all top prize monies from the top flight to themselves, not only that.

Not only did this mean they became Scotland’s only participant in the Champions League/Europa League and secured all the prize funds and TV monies for themselves when Rangers obviously couldn’t.

But then Rangers’ rise back, and coefficient magic in the Europa League meant that the Ibrox side secured better Champions League spots for the Scottish Premiership which Celtic lapped up as champions and scored well over £100M free money from.

In short, Celtic did literally nothing for 12 years, and more or less secured a free shot of around £200M over the past dozen years, probably considerably more.

So to have the utter front to claim this was hard work and tears and they were handed nothing is staggering, comical, revisionist.

And utterly Celtic.

NB: we await the triggered tims swamping this because they can’t help themselves.
