Despite Rangers’ eventual victory at Mount Florida on Sunday, fans aren’t any more convinced by manager Philippe Clement than they were before kick-off, and Ibrox Noise ran a definitive poll to find out who supporters wanted to replace the Belgian with.
Previously our polls have seen Steven Gerrard the most popular choice, but as with the weather, fan opinion changes on as little as one result, and we wanted a more up-to-date survey of supporter opinion, before it inevitably changes yet again.
Ibrox Noise proposed the four main choices of new manager, the most overall popular ones, those being Derek McInnes, Rino Gattuso, Kevin Muscat and Steven Gerrard.
To summarise each:
McInnes was spectacular at Killie last season, getting the Rugby Park side into Europe, but couldn’t handle both fronts this season and was unable to get going until his side departed Europe. Since exiting the Conference League, he’s had 8 matches, losing just two, drawing 3 and winning 3. There’s an uptick in momentum for his side now.
Gattuso has been exceptional at Hadjuk Split, they top the league, only just losing their first match of the season at the weekend! They top the Croat league.
Muscat has just won his latest title, this time in China, with Shanghai Port. He’s got the astonishing achievement of winning in every country he’s coached, Japan, Australia and China.
And lastly Gerrard, won 55 with Rangers of course but struggling with Al-Ettifaq in 11th in Saudi Arabia this season. He was the previous popular choice, but he is close to losing his job in the Gulf State. It hasn’t really shone for him in the Middle East.
And in the Ibrox Noise poll, who came out on top?
In last place, despite his excellent return in Croatia, Rino, with just 5%.
Third was McInnes, 17%.
Second… and falling badly it’s Gerrard with an admittedly still healthy 33%.
But you’ve obviously guessed winning that title has placed Kevin Muscat from last to first with 45% of the 1500 votes.
So two days ago Muscat was a not a popular choice, then social media reports he’s won the Chinese title and hey presto, he’s now number 1.
Do we agree?
We think any of those four would be better than Clement, that’s all we’re saying.
