The Borna Barisic update where Rangers’ ex-left back appears likely to leave Trabzonspor is yet another example of how Rangers players have far more often than not completely failed once leaving Ibrox.

The Croat has barely featured in Turkey, who went to southern Europe with Rangers team mate John Lundstram, but it has gone as well for the defender as it did for Ryan Kent.

The curious irony is the man who secured his place ahead of him, Eren Elmalı, is ahead of Barisic’s supposed successor Ridvan Yilmaz, in the national side, so Elmali is basically number one for club and country at the expense of both Barisic and Yilmaz.

And then there’s John Lundstram, who is beating the criticism down there and featuring more lately, albeit the team just isn’t very good. He had a slow start and a lot of flack, but seems to be overcoming it now.

Barisic?

Another Rangers alumnus that just didn’t thrive on leaving Govan, and word from Turkish press is his agent was summoned to club bosses recently for a potential mutual consent termination.

Should it have gone better for the Croat?

This guy was once a fixture for his national team, but that’s faded completely amid a bunch of superior choices such as City giant Gvardiol who has soaked up the left side of defence for himself. There’s also Borna Sosa as well, to name just two.

Barisic’s career is definitely on the slide, and it appears he’s looking for his next club.

He’s probably not one any Rangers fan would ever want back.
