Ibrox Noise understands some new players have been in talks with Rangers recently, and at least one free agent of a senior persuasion is in negotiations with the club for a contract.
As we know Rangers badly need some new blood in there, a great night in Europe doesn’t paper over the fact the squad is not enough, lacking an alpha midfielder, wingers and a striker or two.
It could be argued it lacks a lot more than just that, but the club is actively seeking to add some new quality to the roster with a few select free agent additions, and it’s been said that a few new players have been attending Auchenhowie of late, giving the manager a chance to give them the once over.
There is also a notable senior player who is said to be in talks over a potential deal, with sources saying he’s a midfielder.
There are no names yet, and the last time we did have a name rather blew up in our faces here at Ibrox Noise so we shan’t take that chance anyway unless we get 100% certainty on it, but it does look like Rangers are working actively on recruitment.
We sincerely hope these are not just youth additions, because frankly we have enough of those, and we need MREs for the senior squad.
With an injury pile-up lately, at least 6 senior players are either out or hugely doubtful for Sunday, and while none of these deals would be done by then, the club is certainly hoping to add some quality to the squad in the coming days and weeks.
Naturally no new additions will be eligible for the Europa League, but Rangers’ priority is domestic and anything that can help the side gain some points in the league is welcome.
Whether deals can be struck with these potential new recruits we shall see, we have no idea if they even impressed the manager enough.
But either way, Rangers are actively in the free agency market to see if anything good can be found at a good price.
Time will tell as always.
