As eagle-eyed readers may be aware, Ibrox Noise has been regularly running polls on Rangers fan approval rating of manager Philippe Clement.
Exasperated for at least 10 months by him, we wanted to understand why the fanbase at large fully supported the Belgian, or at least, trusted him, and we ran sporadic polls which always reached about 95% approval rating.
The first time that really dipped was following the latest Old Firm loss, when 66% wanted him gone, only for those numbers to change to 75% approval a few days later.
And that was the big dip – from 95% down to 75%, the Belgian had lost a lot of favour with that result and his own behaviour after it.
Now?
Following the Killie loss there has been a complete change, and now only 9% of Rangers fans polled of around 1,800 endorse Clement, with a flabbergasting 91% wanting him gone. We’re sure a follow up would probably change again but those were damning numbers.
The Killie defeat was a ‘Greatest Hits’ of all the things Clement routinely does wrong, all the incompetent errors he makes, and clearly the pressure of the Rangers job is just too much for the man to handle.
And it’s the final straw for a great many supporters who have seen enough of Kieran Dowell coming on in the 70th minute to do them a lifetime.
Fans who were fuming over the boss publicly calling out defender Kasanwirjo for an error, but never makes any critique of captain James Tavernier doing the same.
Then threw a banner up saying the mismanagement of Rangers must stop, and stop now.
We can’t disagree.
Yes, it’s a big part in the board, absolutely, we’re not anything like defenders of this (or any previous) Rangers board.
But it’s Clement acting like a spanner, it’s Clement dumping Sterling, it’s Clement selecting Dio, selecting Barron without giving him a proper foil.
Clement whose tactics don’t exist at all.
And that’s why many fans have now had enough of him.
