Philippe Clement has today confirmed a major injury update for Rangers fans before the weekend’s clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Speaking at his Friday presser, the Belgian manager made some announcements on personnel who are and aren’t available for the trip to Ayrshire.
Danilo is back training, 50/50 chance of featuring.
Hagi, obviously is unavailable.
Oscar Cortes is out for ‘several’ weeks which could be into next year.
Ridvan is finally to return to training next week, Matondo will join him or be the week after, while Ross McCausland is touch and go to feature after travelling to the international break with an injury.
So that’s four players definitely out for the weekend; Hagi, Cortes, Matondo and Ridvan, and a few maybes in Danilo and Ross McCausland.
In truth while it’s good news on the returns, Rangers are actually in pretty much the same position they were before the break – no one previously-injured player is definitely available to feature this weekend, while McCausland may now be on the injured list and Hagi isn’t available at all for a while.
It’s an update in truth that only says there’s no real update and no really good news, but it is welcome that so many players seem to be slowly getting back into training at Auchenhowie.
Just a pity we still won’t see them in the shirt for a while.
