Rangers face Romanian giants FCSB tonight, having just had a quick look at FCSB already I’m worried.

We are playing against a very good group of players. Manager Elias Charalambous has them working as a solid team, and their front line is cool under pressure. Watch out for quick changes in direction and dangerous passes into the gaps. They can play down the wings, or straight through the centre, and are not scared to take shots from distance.

Defensively their team is well set up. The team is very athletic, and they can pass out of a high press.

They are quick at passing through the lines. There is very little wasted time on the ball, and they seldom take a needless pass that would give the defence time to regroup.

A few seasons ago, I would put this as a 50/50 match.

Now what is really annoying is the valuation of this team is a fraction of Rangers, but the way they are set up, they actually look like they are the far better team and the better players. That shouldn’t happen. Not with Rangers supposedly managed by a title-winning champion like Philippe Clement and having spent £16M this window.

So Clement better have his A-game ready tonight, and he is going to have to work out how to get our team scoring again.

And though I said goal difference is going to become important, in this match I would honestly take any win, given how badly we have been playing recently.

Watch out for their wingers, and if he is playing, Darius Olaru. Especially when he is around the penalty box.

Rangers will have it all to do tonight, if we thought Lyon was tough, unfortunately, FCSB are a team well-drilled and who have started the competition brilliantly.

They are in red hot form, unlike Lyon who were a bit of a mess when we faced them.

This could be a nasty hiding unless the old Thursday night Rangers who went to Sweden shows up.
