The BBC were once again (arguably) at it with Celtic and Rangers after a humbling for Celtic Women in the Champions League (just like their male counterparts) saw the Beeb desperate to avoid mentioning the score.

The Parkhead lost 0-2 on their Champions League debut, but unlike how the BBC highlighted Rangers’ 1-4 loss to French cracks Lyon, Pacific Quay was very keen to sweep Celtic’s score under the carpet and spin the match as positively as possible.

In a rare defence of the BBC we do actually support media groups being less harsh on Scottish women teams, because neither Rangers Women or their Parkhead counterparts court anything like the same controversy as the men’s teams do, and especially the fans are a tonne more civil and family-oriented.

But that said, the BBC really did rather sweep the result under the carpet unlike how they did with Rangers’ horrendous night v Lyon.

Although, again, we can contradict ourselves by admitting they didn’t shy away from mentioning Celtic’s hammering in Germany, but then could they avoid that one?

Either way, it’s typical BBC to rather overlook Celtic’s failings and highlight Rangers’ equivalent, but if there’s one place it’s probably better to avoid being toxic it’s the more family-based women’s game.

So maybe we’re a bit torn on this one, on how it was presented and how it should be?

Maybe they called it right, or maybe this was just sporting bias again.

Who are we to judge…
