We’re hearing word on the pipeline, as we reported recently, that there may be a restoration of the notion of former Rangers manager and player and of course lifelong fan Graeme Souness returning to the club in an advisory capacity, which of course surfaced some time ago only to fade away.

In Souness’ own words many months ago ‘that ship has sailed’ but it seems to have come back and Ibrox Noise felt the fans’ view on this was very important so we turned over to you.

Did you want Souness back in this way, or for you are the bridges burned or he’s just not what you want?

In an Ibrox Noise poll, the answer was almost as one-sided as the Walter stand renaming one was.

A staggering 92% of around 700 (one of our smaller poll samples admittedly) fans wanted Souness back as an advisor, just 8% saying they didn’t seek his return at all.

While the sample size wasn’t at the usual 2,000-4,000 we often get for these polls, generally speaking any number over about 500 will be roughly representative – we have rarely seen any results at 500 then dramatically change once the poll hit the 2K range.

So we’d say fans are indeed very keen on the return of the former manager.

Some ask what he can possibly offer Rangers, having been away for over 30 years, also considering his views dated and no longer relevant.

We do have a concern or two about some comments he’s made, but then we didn’t agree with every word Walter himself uttered and he was the Grand Master.

So it’s ok not to agree with someone.

But he does have Rangers’ best interests at heart and would do everything he could in the role to steer the club right.

And it seems most fans want that.
