Rangers have been hit by an all-new injury blow after it was confirmed Colombian winger Oscar Cortes has AGAIN been struck down by a knock after the ex-Lens winger, following a recent injury return, missed training.
The attacker, who has made just 10 Rangers appearances (6 starts) since he joined the club in January, has been beset by repeated injury issues, and while he wasn’t a dead-cert to start against Malmo on Thursday, he was expected to be an option from the bench.
But once more the forward appears to be out injured and we wouldn’t dare put a date on his return – we’re aware manager Philippe Clement will hold his presser in Sweden either later today or tomorrow before the match, and he is likely to confirm Cortes’ prognosis one way or the other.
But it would be yet another blow for the lad who has been completely unable to string a few appearances together, but for injury to keep bringing him down.
Since his January arrival he’s managed less than 400 minutes of football, and like fellow south American Danilo, he keeps picking up issues which prevent him from playing.
We are also of course aware of the manager’s bizarre mishandling of him, from putting him out on that perilous Killie surface last season, to bringing him in to start out from the cold when nowhere near fit, to putting him back on in the second half when he was clearly injured earlier this season.
And now we are paying the price, as Cortes picks up repeated injuries and is seemingly unavailable to face Malmo.
Marvellous.
Are we obligated to buy him or is it an option ? Anyone know ?
Option to buy mate, but now we know why we were able to get him. The guy is made from rice paper.
Agreed Derek mate lol 👍😎
