Rangers shock as Clement omits £6M Danilo from Euro squad

It has been far from a good start to the season for Rangers, as the Ibrox giants fell to Celtic and stumbled at Hearts, as well as crashing out of the Champions League at the third round.

To add to this misery, Rangers fans are exasperated to learn that not only is £6M striker Danilo out injured again with another piece of surgery on his leg, this time a knee problem, but that he has been omitted from the entire (likely) European campaign after manager Philippe Clement omitted him from the Europa League group stage.

The latest issue for the Brazilian is the third major injury the expensive capture has sustained since joining last summer, in what is proving to be a ridiculous curse on his Ibrox career.

Barely one week after crying in happiness at scoring his first goal since last December, the former Ajax man is straight back into the treatment room for a potential mid-term injury with an initial projection of one month out.

Danilo has been one of Rangers’ most cursed acquisitions, but then from a club who signed perennially-injured Ridvan Yilmaz and others who have sustained many long-term issues like Kemar Roofe (now departed), Ryan Jack (likewise) and Tom Lawrence it’s really not that much of a shock.

It also demonstrated that while Rangers’ injury situation at the moment is a little better than it has been, the club still sustains far too many knocks and seems to sign players ‘made of glass’.

Danilo will be devastated, but unfortunately his career at Rangers seems to be deeply struggling to get going.

He just can’t stay fit.
