Rangers fans have taken a Philippe Clement Q&A session as an opportunity to slam the board and demand their removal, in scenes reminiscent of 2014-16 when the Ashley Llambias hierarchy was in control at Ibrox.
Banners have been held outside the Q&A with claims that Chairman John Bennett and Graeme Park (we assume Graeme) have been ‘asleep at the wheel’ and let Rangers’ current state occur.
The banner wholeheartedly demands the manager be backed, albeit we’re not sure if this if fan-based ‘back the manager ffs’ or that the protesters want Clement to be financially supported by the suits.
Either way, the opportunity has been taken by protesters to air their feelings, and it’s the first time since Kenny McDowall was ‘manager’ all those years ago that the supporters have gone to the level of protest.
It does feel a bit crude – some fans have noted that it feels like there’s just a sack everyone culture at the club right now, that fans just want everyone fired, apart from Clement, that is, albeit there are now more and more fans who want the boss given his P45 as well, in fairness.
The players, naturally, are part of this too, if the fans got their way the boardroom would be empty and the dressing room would have no one in it.
There are also claims that the protest against Bennett is ‘harsh’ which Ibrox Noise would agree with, because it’s our understanding he’s one of the few who is doing his best under very difficult circumstances.
We will admit we have our concerns about Graeme Park and Alastair Johnston, but ultimately, Bennett seems to be trying at least.
End of the day, it seems like the club really is in the sewer again, and we feel like the protest eras of the past are well and truly back.
If any Rangers fans are caught in bushes outside Sports Direct this time the shambles has come full circle.
