It has been confirmed that, in a rare mistake and case of mistaken identity from Ibrox Noise sources, yesterday’s B trialist in fact was not Brandon Williams formerly of Man Utd, with it now not really known who it was.
We hold our hands up to apparently getting this one wrong, our sources furnished this information in good faith and we went with it, and we’re not going to apologise for an honest error which is about as human a thing as one can be guilty of.
We are certainly not going to throw our sources under the bus for making an error – that is part of the risk of what we do, they give us info in good faith and sometimes it’s wrong – and we will happily take it on the chin if there’s a some bad info.
What we didn’t appreciate so much last night was the predictably toxic insults from some ‘fans’ who decided to slur us as liars and all other smears all because information delivered in good faith appears to have been incorrect.
But if John Bennett had to quit for what appears to be stress related health disorders, them’s the deal with Rangers fans at the moment – we know the drill, unfortunately – Bennett was abused endlessly as chairman, and had to step down for the good of his health.
So what Ibrox Noise dealt with from a few angry Rangers fans yesterday evening was nothing by comparison.
For what it’s worth, the latest ‘rumour’ about the full back at the B match was that it was a random 17-year-old Croatian, and beyond that we now have no clue at all.
It appears it wasn’t Brandon Williams anyway, which is a huge disappointment because he’s a top calibre player who really would have been a major addition to the side.
But as it is, we have no idea if ‘who it was’ impressed management enough to get a deal.
Time as always will tell.
