The Ianis Hagi Rangers story continues to twist and turn, with the playmaker making a bizarre statement on social media about his agent.
Having seen press all summer long quoting Giovanni Becali and his take on client Hagi, strangely, the Romanian has only now decided to publish a rebuke, distancing himself from the Italian (and his brother) after the best part of 3 months of Becali’s comments.
Becali, of course, has been saying all manner of odd things, pertaining to being Hagi’s agent, but now the Romanian forward alleges that the 72-year-old has nothing to do with him and another agency has been doing his bidding for four years.
It’s all very odd.
True, transfermarkt does not list Hagi under its client list for Becali, although the Italian is responsible for a huge number of Romanian players, but this statement has come rather out of the blue.
If we were betting folk here on Ibrox Noise, which we definitely aren’t, we’d suggest Becali was his agent in the past, and is now just a ‘family friend’ (he claims to be chummy with the Hagis) but one who is speaking as a ‘consigliore’ of sorts, one pertaining to being Hagi’s mentor and guide.
In truth, his words over the summer were bizarre, as bizarre as the stuff the Hagis themselves come out with, but from the horse’s mouth, it appears Becali does not speak for Hagi at all.
It’s just curious he waited the best part of 12+ weeks before rejecting all this.
Strange.
