With the near-official confirmation that captain James Tavernier will remain at Ibrox amid reported interest from Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Ibrox Noise wanted to poll our audience for their view on this.
Were fans delighted Tav seems to be staying, were they indifferent, or were they downright unhappy?
Once upon a time a poll like this would have been heavily weighted in favour of Tavernier, with the majority most definitely behind him and rating him highly, but have times changed?
In our Ibrox Noise poll, of a sample around 1500 and counting, 56% of Rangers fans were happy he is to stay, while 44% were the opposite.
When we compare these with the numbers Connor Goldson used to get, which were heavily against the former Rangers defender, it certainly is a more favourable result for the captain who manages to get the majority of supporters in his corner.
But it’s far from overwhelming, and does demonstrate the favour he used to enjoy with fans is nowhere near as strong as it once was.
The fact is his performances have not been terribly good, and he has cut a disconnected figure this season, his body language not being the most positive while there have been none of his signature goals either.
Either way it’s moot – fans marginally are happy he’s staying, and he’s seemingly made that decision as of recently so Rangers and James Tavernier’s relationship continues.
