With massive doubts about Leon Balogun’s fitness, picking the starting Rangers XI for our return leg with Dynamo Kyiv becomes a speck more difficult.

That said, as we proposed already, Robin Pröpper now looks like number one pick alongside John Souttar, and you can probably guess that yes, we do predict those two as starters at Hampden.

But who joins them?

Well Philippe Clement is starting to find something of an XI now, some recurring patterns are appearing with his selections, and Ibrox Noise uses that to identify his likely XI in Mount Florida:

Goals:

Butland, notably-improved since the competitive stuff started. Liam Kelly a more than able deputy though.

Defence:

The duo we already mentioned in the middle, and Tavernier and Ridvan. Let’s hope Clement doesn’t leave the poor wee Turk completely isolated like he did last week.

Midfield:

Barron and Diomande. We are deeply underwhelmed by Dio, but can’t see Clement dropping him for Sterling, who we’d much prefer. We need more from the Ivory Coast man, this would be a good one to see that happen in.

Attacking midfield:

How absurd, Rangers literally have about 5 or 6 players here, but can only actually pick one of them. It’ll be Tom Lawrence again.

Wings:

Again, we have a lot of choices – Jefte, Wright, McCausland, Cerny and Matondo, but we cannot see past Wright on the left. Not through choice, you understand. We’d pick Jefte every day of the week if it was up to us. On the right we’d hope Cerny will continue his form and get the nod.

Striker:

Obviously it’s Dessers, he’s the only target man centre-forward we have. Even if fans struggle to love him after all this time

So your Ibrox Noise prediction:

Butland; Tavernier, Souttar, Pröpper, Ridvan; Barron, Diomande; Cerny, Lawrence, Wright; Dessers.

We’ll see how (W)right we are come tomorrow evening.
