Two new injuries for Rangers as problems continue to mount

Rangers’ Hampden nightmare is set to worsen after Ridvan Yilmaz was stretchered off in agony, while Leon Balogun is far from a certainty to be fit against St Johnstone this weekend either.

Following a horrendous evening for the Famous, the Turk sustained yet another injury, apparently his thigh, and required hauled off for scanning and diagnosis.

If this is yet another serious injury for the wee lad, we’re not even sure what we can say about it.

The only options we have there are Jefte and Robbie Fraser, and we can’t really say either of those two fill us with a lot of reassurance going into the late August September period.

And then there’s Balogun – he didn’t make it after he ‘felt something’ following Motherwell, and was a gigantic doubt for Kyiv. Well, he didn’t make that one, and now we have absolutely no idea how fit he is or what chance he has of making the weekend visit of St Johnstone.

It adds up to yet more headaches for Rangers – it potentially deprives us of our first-choice left back, and a seriously versatile alpha defender option.

We can only hope Ridvan’s injury wasn’t as bad as it looked (chances are low, unfortunately) and that Balogun is available again this weekend.

Because adding extra injuries at this stage is really, really unneeded but that’s the way this season is going, unfortunately.
