Despite manager Philippe Clement’s initial emotional post-match assertion after County that none of the players involved in the squad would be leaving, he backed down quickly in the following media duties by admitting that everyone had their price and that if enough money was on the table, players involved v Ross County would be sold.
We report what Clement says, but it doesn’t mean we exactly trust much of it, the lad changes his tune with the wind and as a media outlet it’s Ibrox Noise’s duty to bring it all to you.
And on that note we understand that all Rangers players do have their prices, and the club is actively trying to get rid of a number of them.
Ibrox Noise takes you through all the players we’re aware of that are still actively being shipped out:
Ianis Hagi:
Word in Romania is Bucharest are trying to get him, make him their highest-ever paid player, but ‘only’ for £500K a year. Basically they want him to take a wage cut of 50%. He’s not keen on that.
Todd Cantwell:
This one is getting ugly – we’re getting information that he is doing everything in his power to screw Rangers over, and loathes the club and fans now. He wants out more than anything and wants to hurt us in the process. He’s doing exactly the same as he did at Norwich, probably worse. Sooner we can find a way to get shot of him, the better.
Devine/King/Lowry:
Club seeking exits for these guys, probably loans.
Rabbi Matondo:
Hasn’t changed, he’s not regarded as a senior pick, despite his County heroics – if he did it regularly against better sides that might change but in two years that was his own memorable performance. There is significant interest here, Blackburn’s being well-documented.
Kieran Dowell:
Was told long ago to find a new club, but no offers worth anything have arrived. He’s completely surplus and won’t start many at Ibrox.
James Tavernier:
We’ll have this in a separate piece.
Cyriel Dessers:
Like everyone else he has his price – he’s on fire, and Rangers don’t want him to go, but if the right money/offer comes in, he’ll leave. He’s gone from ridiculed to exalted in the space of a few weeks and now he’s loving life. But if Real Madrid offer £15M and a £100,000pw wage, he’ll leave. Exaggeration but you get the point. There have been offers but they’ve not been enough.
Tom Lawrence:
Again, has his price, but he’s Rangers’ only playmaker now, so the club really wants to keep him till a replacement is found. Had a good one v County of course, but so did everyone. It’s not a measurement. There have been offers, but nothing big enough that Rangers can quickly find a replacement or two.
And that’s enough for now.
