Philippe Clement’s admission that Rangers fans will see ‘more incomings than outgoings’ is a very curious comment, given that a big part of our summer was to ship out as many of the dead wood as possible, and bring in new talent to replace it.
The problem is money, and the lack thereof, as we know.
So for Clement to insist the incomings will outnumber the outgoings is a curious comment to make, especially as there are only 5 days for Rangers to make signings.
There is, of course, a major caveat – Rangers are trying to make good use of loans and ‘obligation to buy’ – aka you get the player now, but you don’t pay till next season or the next transfer window, and that does suit our budget.
The only downside to THAT is it affects the following summer’s budget. We’re already down £4.5M for Oscar Cortes, which comes out the summer finance like Mohamed Diomande did this summer.
But we’d hope the board are planning that budget and doing this to try to help the trading model deficit. Which is currently dire.
But this is getting away from the point – Clement’s admission that there’s going to be some incomings is a bit of a contradiction to the fact that it’s been widely-reported (including from the club itself) that no more signings without sales first.
So unless there’s going to be a surprise or two over the next 24-48 hours, there’s no more revenue, and yet we will still sign a few?
This seems a little odd.
In truth, all us fans want is good new players, and hopefully that’s incoming. We guess HOW the club achieves this is up to them!
