Rangers are to replace the departed Todd Cantwell with a £3M signing in Albania’s Nedim Bajrami, with the Sassuolo playmaker agreeing terms on a new career in Scotland under Philippe Clement’s Ibrox side.
He is an Albanian international with 26 caps and he will be the first use of Rangers’ accrued funds from this summer with 6 sales now confirmed.
Coming from Italy’s Serie B, Bajrami’s stable is not spectacular;
He has 22 goals and assists in 60 in Serie B, but just 21 in a 100 in the top flight.
Not abysmal, but not stunning, and his Sassuolo numbers are downright poor:
8 goals and assists in 52.
His best career period was with Empoli, 44 goals and assists in 127, which is solid, but not incredible and Rangers will be hoping this 25-year-old is ready to click in with the consistency and provide the level of quality Rangers need to go to the next level.
In terms of price, his highest value was an impressive £10M so Rangers would be getting a player with some history and credibility for sure, even if his overall numbers are not breathtaking as yet.
Rangers are investing £3M on this chap, so he’s a big money purchase.
We welcome him to Ibrox and he will be announced imminently.
We just have to hope that whatever he does have, he brings to the table, assuming he doesn’t get a long-term injury in a fortnight or so’s time. It’s still gonna be a long old, hard season tho’, especially after the Europa draw.
