It’s all very well saying that Philippe Clement made this error, that error, or this shambles or that shambles, but Rangers’ board, in utterly bewildering Connor Goldson-extension-like wisdom elected to tie him down for an extra year.

Let’s not beat about the bush – Clement has completely failed at Rangers.

We were 100% in favour of him getting the job, but we overestimated the pressure levels in Belgium which are nowhere near the level they are at Ibrox. He had success at clubs where not winning doesn’t mean the end of the world.

This pressure at Rangers is a totally new experience, aside perhaps Monaco who are big-paying, big ambition. He didn’t do too well there either, it must be said.

We think Clement peaked at Genk and Bruges, and has been on a downward slide since he quit Belgium for Monte Carlo.

The evidence of his spell at Rangers is not of a man who knows what he’s doing, it’s of another manager out of his depth and acting erratically.

The line many fans are understandably adopting is ‘we can’t keep changing managers’.

We agree completely, in principle with this, the rotating managers isn’t helping.

But then they’re all failing, aren’t they?

They’re all bursting on in, bright starts, then falling away after a while once new manager bounce is there.

Rangers made a gigantic error not supporting Giovanni van Bronckhorst who is currently already one trophy won at Besiktas and opening his new league season with a win.

Instead here we are, with another Pedro, a guy who doesn’t have a clue about our club or how to manage it.

But ‘just give him a chance ffs’.
