Clement admits Rangers could still sell Rabbi Matondo

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has confirmed he only ‘thinks’ Rabbi Matondo will stay, but admits suitor clubs with ‘enough money’ could still bid for him and take the decision out of his hands.

Speaking after Rangers’ convincing demolition of Ross County, Rangers’ boss backed down a bit from his previous assertion that Matondo and the other players involved in the squad on Saturday would definitively stay, admitting that really, anything is possible.

He said:

“I, I, think he’s gonna stay yeah, otherwise somebody needs to come with enough money. So that you never know…”

The Welshman has taken a very long time to have a genuinely impressive match, and thriving against Ross County might not be the clincher in all fairness, but it’s a start.

We do like him, but unfortunately his decision making and final product has let him down far too often, and he’s never lived up to the £3M fee or the £30,000 wage he gets.

He’s been far from value for money.

But Clement appears to be offering him up to anyone who can afford him, by challenging any suitors, IE Blackburn (or anyone else) to dig deep in their pockets and pay what the club would want for him.

Rangers are absolutely chock-a-block with right wingers, and have just Oscar Cortes (slowly regaining fitness) on the left. Matondo is expendable and was told he could leave if a buyer was found.

As yet that hasn’t happened and the winger will play it by ear.

If Blackburn want him they’ll need to pay, and Clement is challenging them to do that.
