Today’s news alleging that wantaway playmaker Todd Cantwell trained with the first team really doesn’t change a single thing as far as his projected departure goes, but if the photos purporting to be coming from Auchenhowie this morning are accurate, Cantwell has been restored to first team training following the pretty shoddy decision to dump him into the B Team.
The 26-year-old playmaker handed in a transfer request more than once recently, and clearly unhappy with his decision Philippe Clement pettily put him in with the kids, in a move which smacked of manager ego and entitlement.
Funnily enough, these are things Cantwell is also a speck guilty of – we digress.
With Trabzonspor said to be moving in on the ex-Norwich man, it seems his manager has relented on the ‘punishment’ meted out on Cantwell and has placed him back among the senior squad.
Now, of course, a caveat – this is coming from the Daily Record, so scepticism is on max, but the photography of the attacker is by Alan Harvey of the credible SNS group so we highly doubt the images aren’t real.
Which means that unless the scene portrayed is being misrepresented (the caption suggests otherwise) Cantwell is indeed back among the first team for training.
How much longer he’ll be there is unclear, but one thing is for sure, he’s the most talented player Rangers have in that position – pity his personality debases everything else and his manager just isn’t too fond of him.
If Cantwell could (have) gotten his head right and focused on shooshing critics with his play rather than shooshburgers with his social media, his Rangers story could have had a much happier ending.
As it is, he still seems destined to leave for Turkey…
