So it’s official – Rangers will not be signing Bojan Miovski after the Macedonian confirmed his move to Spanish side Girona for a whopping £7M, which is the highest fee a Scottish club has ever sold any player at all outside Rangers and Celtic.
It turned out those £8M price tags reported in the media weren’t far off, and while the cost is an initial £6M rising to the £7M, it’s a massively hefty fee for a player who Ibrox Noise demonstrated was, at best, equal to Cyriel Dessers.
So ‘what’s this got to do with Rangers’?
Well it just highlights, again, how better other SPL clubs are run than ourselves. Both Aberdeen and ‘them’ lot have infinitely better business models, and Rangers just keep bungling.
That the Dons sold their prize asset for around £7M while Rangers can’t get more than £4M for any player says a lot about where we are as a club these days.
Gone are the (brief) days in 2022 when we sold Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo for big cash – since then we haven’t sold anyone for more than £4M.
Our trading model is terrible, and Aberdeen, ABERDEEN are better at it.
In fairness, their trading model is exceptional – Scott McKenna, Lewis Ferguson, Calvin Ramsey, Kenny MacLean and now Bojan Miovski are just five of the examples of them making gigantic cash on their players, while Rangers just release their best ones for free.
Morelos, Kent, Borna, Lundstram – all these lost millions are absolutely ridiculous and they keep happening.
Meanwhile Aberdeen are making whopping sales and keep doing it.
Bojan Miovski sums up so many things that are wrong with Rangers’ trading system, and spending £2.5M on Hamza Igamane isn’t really helping.
Miovski was doing it for Aberdeen tho with lesser players around him, They dnt get as many chances infront of goal than we do. plus hes a better age than Dessers. Not argueing just my opinion.👍
