This has been a colossal few days for Rangers, some of the most eventful hours leading into Saturday’s curtain-raising trip to Tynecastle on the opening fixture of the season.

Where on earth are we!

Ibrox Noise does our best to try to sum it all up in one reasonably bite-size chunk to digest all the stuff we’ve witnessed the past few days:

Firstly, Connor Goldson’s exit was finally, finally confirmed. He left for Aris Limassol for £2.5M.

Then next we had Chairman John Bennett give a massive interview on the stadium shambles, and a wide range of other topics. He also confirmed that manager Philippe Clement was ‘all in’ which was a hint to come of Friday’s developments. More on that later.

Rangers then officially announced James Tavernier was staying – not in so many words, per se, but he dismissed the speculation and the fact the club made a big deal of the interview and his projections for the new season basically confirmed he’s decided to remain in Govan.

Then not long after, new Dutch defender Robin Propper was confirmed, a £2.5M signing from FC Twente, and signed in time, crucially, for the UEFA deadline V Kyiv.

And lastly, on the morning of Friday, John Bennett’s words on Clement now rang true as Rangers confirmed another 12 months were added to the manager’s contract.

If we add Czech international Vaclav Cerny’s arrival last weekend it’s been a rather lively 5+ days in the world of Rangers, where things, finally, do seem to be moving after a very slow start.

Are we now ready for Hearts on Saturday?

Nah, nowhere near it – the squad remains well below where it needs to be. But the change we demanded is happening, slowly, even if there’s no way on God’s green earth to get rid of James Tavernier.

The XI still isn’t great, but them’s the cards we’re dealt so we just have to get on with it.

So, here we go!
