The minority of moonhowlers in Rangers’ support have been at it again after yet another flop was released in the form of Dutch failure Sam Lammers, before some small sections of the Ibrox fanbase decried the sale, defended Lammers and protested that he deserved a second chance.
We’ve been seeing this nonsense with our own eyes, fans defending (in his case) fourth-rate garbage and trying to vindicate the low-level players at the club, players who clearly haven’t done it for our club.
The biggest ‘laugh’ we get from the Rangers supporters who defend Lammers is the same BS line we got from himself – that he wasn’t being played as a striker.
Well, with all due respect mate, you were being played as one at PSV, Eintracht, Atalanta and Sampdoria and scored barely 10 goals in 5 years.
Sure, it’s all about your position. Right.
As for his time at Rangers, the guy managed 42 shots in the league, and just two goals with them. Whether he was playing as an outright striker or not, his efficiency was absolutely atrocious.
But no, let’s revise history to claim, from some quarters, that he deserved ‘another chance’.
Now, we should be clear – we’re not saying Lammers is an outright bad striker – where he’s been good, he’s really shone.
But those circumstances have been very niche – always in Holland, and always with a midtable team. Heerenveen and Utrecht.
It’ll be interesting to see how he does at Twente now with a bit more expectation on him – a team with potential title aspirations.
But let’s not kid on the guy needed a second chance at Rangers. He was a horrific signing and didn’t suit our club at all.
Anyone saying otherwise isn’t being remotely rational.
