In case anyone was in any doubt, and we highly suspect no one thought differently, Sam Lammers’ Rangers career is over after it was confirmed that he is currently training with the B team, and most definitely was not on the flight to Eindhoven with the senior squad, having returned from his loan spell in Utrecht.
Rangers and his agent are currently working on a deal to desperately try to get him off the wage bill at Ibrox, and while there’s some talk that AZ are a major suitor to secure his signature, his salary is a problem for them, as Ibrox Noise has reported many times.
Which means that, for now, the ex-PSV hitman is trapped at Auchenhowie keeping himself fit with Rangers’ kids and B side while management work to find a deal that works for Rangers and the player himself.
Unfortunately a major problem for Lammers was his attitude, a really disrespectful tone towards Rangers and general arrogance about his own qualities, despite the fact Philippe Clement gave him a very very healthy number of appearances after taking over.
Much, admittedly, to the chagrin of Rangers fans at the time.
No, Lammers was a very, very bad fit for Rangers, and so far it’s cost the club around £4M, in transfer fee and salary.
Thanks Mick.
For now Lammers will just keep training with the B team till a solution can be found for him and the club.
