The weird story over Sevilla reject Joan Jordan appears to have reached an end after Rangers ‘pulled out’ over the Spanish player and a potential switch for him to Ibrox.
From what Ibrox Noise understands, Jordan simply didn’t have any interest in Rangers or Scotland, and wasn’t up for the move from the start – it was Rangers and his agent driving the whole thing, and while he seeks a career move from the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán having been told he’s no longer wanted, he doesn’t want Rangers.
We don’t really know why the club pursued the guy, when he made it fairly clear from the beginning that Rangers wasn’t his preferred destination.
And to spin it better, Rangers have ‘pulled out’ as if it was the club’s preference when in fact we just ‘couldn’t get the girl we wanted’ and have to move onto other targets.
In truth, we don’t know why we wasted time on this – his wages were already huge and Sevilla themselves had rejected a part-funded loan deal to Rangers, so that wasn’t happening.
And the player himself was pretty apathetic from the start – he didn’t want the Scottish Premiership and didn’t really want Rangers either – he still wants a top 5 league or a big-money move, neither of which Rangers were to him.
So what we were doing here we’re not quite sure.
Anyway it appears to be done now, the Spaniard seeks a move elsewhere and Rangers move onto targets who (might) actually want to come to our club.
