Rangers have FINALLY secured an escape route for Sam Lammers after the Dutch striker agreed a deal with the one Eredivisie side who want him and can apparently afford his wage – FC Twente Enshede.
The deal will shatter Twente’s pay structure, with their highest-paid players on around €10,000pw, which is about £8,000, and with Lammers seeking a reported £25,000 the impact on their wages will be colossal.
He has had to take a pay cut to join the Dutch outfit but of course Twente finished third and are a Champions League side this summer if they qualify, starting at the same point as Rangers do in the third round, but with a stronger chance of securing their place in the competition proper.
This news comes from Italy, from Tuttomercatoweb’s Andrea Losapio, who of course has keen ties to Lammers given the Dutchman’s time with Atalanta, so we suspect he knows what he’s on about.
And now finally Rangers get their circa £3M for Lammers, and his waste of resource £22,000pw wages off the bill.
Obviously it’s not finalised yet, and it’s a huge transfer for Twente, but they want to maximise their chances in the league as well as the UCL, so they believe this is a smart investment.
For them it may well be.
